The "Repeat sound" completion checkbox is disabled, but I would like to repeat my completion sound. How do I do this?
Repeating alarms only work with Timers of style "Count up indefinitely", "Count down then count up", or of type "Alarm". Change your timer's style to one of these, and the option will become enabled. This will be fixed in a future release. | Why doesn't my computer speak?
For speech to work, your computer must have the Speech Manager system software installed. This was an option on some Mac OS installations. We recommend installing the Speech Manager system software following Apple's instructions. | Why doesn't my computer wake up like the instructions say it should?
Please check the following items:
- Your computer must be able to sleep. Many Macintoshes do not have sleep capability. Most PowerBooks do, and many new PowerPCs do, but not all.
- Your computer must have the Power Manager system software installed. This was an option on some Mac OS installations. If it is not installed, OnTimers™ cannot communicate with your hardware to tell it when to wake up.
- OnTimers™ tries very hard to make sure your computer will wake up at the correct time, but other software may not be as polite. Other software may actually overwrite OnTimers™ awaken directives. Check your other software to see if there are any other options for waking up, and disable them.
- Be sure the "Awaken computer from sleep" checkbox is checked in the timer's "Completions" tab.
- If you are awakening a PowerBook, the lid MUST be open for the computer to wake up. To avoid overheating, PowerBooks will not awaken if the lid is closed. This behavior cannot be overridden by software.
| Why isn't OnTimers completing my timers correctly on my PowerBook?
If your PowerBook is falling asleep half way through a critical timer, a sound may not play or speech may not speak. Be sure your "Energy Saver" control panel is set to "Maximum Performance". |
