PasswordWallet™ for Palm FAQ

Return to Frequently Asked (and Answered) Questions →

Will PasswordWallet work on Handspring Visors?

Yes! Handspring Visors run PalmOS, so PasswordWallet should work just fine with them! Many brands of handheld computers run PalmOS.

I've just installed PasswordWallet™ on my Palm, and it's named "Passwords". Why?

There isn't enough room on the Palm screen to display the full name of the software, so the shorter "Passwords" was chosen to represent PasswordWallet™.

The global system find function does not work with records stored in PasswordWallet™. Why not?

Records stored in PasswordWallet™ are always encrypted. Because of this, the global system find function is not able to search through the encrypted records. The solution is to run PasswordWallet™ (by tapping "Passwords") unlock it with your master password, and use the "Find" button at the bottom of the screen.

How do I back up my PasswordWallet file on my Palm?

Excellent question. If you use a Macintosh, you can synchronize with the Macintosh version of PasswordWallet. Unfortunately there isn't a Windows version of PasswordWallet.

We recommend purchasing a utility like "Backup Buddy" to back up your Palm pilot. Utilities like these should do a good job at backing up the Palm databases where PasswordWallet stores your passwords.

My Palm died and my PasswordWallet records aren't showing up after I resynchronize! Why?

PasswordWallet databases on the Palm are not backed up by the standard backup conduit. This makes PasswordWallet imprevious to IR Sync Hacks. PasswordWallet databases need to backed up with third party utilities like Backup Buddy the same way your computer needs to be backed up with proper backup software.
